Cinnamon Pear Balsamic Apple Crisp
Sep 5th 2025
This is the cozy fall dessert you can make on a weeknight. Tart-sweet apples bake beneath a golden, buttery crumble, while The Olive Leaf Cinnamon Pear Balsamic adds a gentle spice and pear-kissed brightness that makes every bite pop. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Ingredients
- 5 large apples, peeled and sliced
- 2 Tbsp The Olive Leaf Cinnamon Pear Balsamic
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup instant oats
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- Ground cinnamon, to taste
Instructions
- Prep apples. Heat oven to 350°F. In a large bowl, toss sliced apples with Cinnamon Pear Balsamic. Spread evenly in a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Make the topping. In another bowl, cream together brown sugar, granulated sugar, and butter until combined. Mix in oats and flour until the mixture is crumbly.
- Assemble. Sprinkle topping evenly over the apples; dust with cinnamon.
- Bake. Bake 45–50 minutes until the apples are tender and the topping is golden and crisp.
- Serve. Cool until warm. Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
Tips & Variations
- Best apples: Use a mix (Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, Pink Lady) for texture and flavor.
- Nutty crunch: Fold 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts into the topping.
- Less sweet: Reduce granulated sugar to 3/4 cup if your apples are very sweet.
- Gluten-free: Swap a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend and certified GF oats.
- Skillet version: Bake in a 10–12” oven-safe skillet for rustic edges.
Pair It
Finish with a drizzle of Cinnamon Pear Balsamic right before serving, or add a spoon of Vanilla Bean Gelato alongside. Great with coffee or a late-harvest Riesling.
