Olive Oil Butter Blend
Sep 18th 2025
Meet your new everyday staple: a soft, ultra-spreadable butter that blends rich dairy with the silky, heart-smart goodness of The Olive Leaf Medium Intensity Olive Oil. It spreads straight from the refrigerator, browns beautifully, and adds a glossy finish to everything from toast to roasted veggies.
Ingredients (makes ~1½ cups)
- 1 cup (2 sticks) high-quality salted butter, room temperature
- ½ cup The Olive Leaf Medium Intensity Olive Oil
Optional add-ins (choose 1 path or keep it plain):
- Savory: 1 small grated garlic clove + 1–2 tsp chopped herbs (parsley, chives, rosemary)
- Sweet: 1–2 tsp honey or maple + a pinch of flaky salt
- Bright: ½ tsp lemon zest + a few grinds of pepper
Directions
- Soften & whip. Add softened butter to a bowl or stand mixer. Beat until smooth and fluffy.
- Stream in olive oil. With the mixer running, slowly drizzle in the olive oil until fully emulsified and silky.
- Flavor (optional). Fold in any add-ins. Taste and adjust salt.
- Chill. Scrape into a jar or ramekin. Cover and refrigerate 2 hours to set. Spread straight from the fridge.
How to Use
- Spread on toast, biscuits, or warm dinner rolls.
- Melt over roasted vegetables, baked potatoes, or steamed corn.
- Finish seared steaks, fish, or pasta for instant gloss and flavor.
- Brush on bread before grilling or toasting.
Storage & Make-Ahead
- Keeps up to 2 weeks refrigerated in a covered container.
- Freeze up to 3 months: scoop onto parchment in tablespoon mounds or roll into a log, freeze, then slice coins as needed.
- Use a clean knife each time to keep it fresh.
Why It Works
Blending butter with extra-virgin olive oil lowers the overall saturated fat compared to all-butter and adds olive oil’s fruity, peppery notes—plus it stays soft and spreadable, even cold.
