About the name:
Johnson Creamery was established in Bloomington in 1912 by brothers Ward and Ellis Johnson. Johnson’s produced milk and ice cream and delivered their products by horse-drawn truck well into the 1930’s. Johnson creamery’s historic building with its iconic red brick 120 ft smokestack can still be seen in downtown Bloomington on 7th street.
