Super Sloppy Joes
Sep 9th 2025
When you want dinner on the table fast—but still big on flavor—these Super Sloppy Joes deliver. A splash of The Olive Leaf Espresso (or Dark Chocolate) Balsamic melts into the sauce, adding a rich, savory depth that makes this taste like it simmered all afternoon. Perfect for busy weeknights, tailgates, or game-day sliders.
Ingredients
- 2 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 14 oz ketchup
- 2 Tbsp brown mustard
- 2 Tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1 Tbsp The Olive Leaf Espresso Balsamic (or Dark Chocolate Balsamic)
- 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Buns, for serving
Directions
- Brown: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and onion until the beef is no longer pink. Drain excess fat.
- Simmer: Stir in ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, chili powder, salt, Espresso (or Dark Chocolate) Balsamic, and Worcestershire. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook 20–30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thick and glossy.
- Serve: Spoon onto toasted buns. Add pickles, shredded cheddar, or a few onion slices if you like.
Make it yours
- More veg: Add diced bell pepper or carrots with the onion.
- Heat it up: Stir in crushed red pepper or a dash of hot sauce.
- Lighter swap: Use ground turkey or a 50/50 beef–turkey blend.
- Slow cooker: Brown meat/onion first, then combine everything in the slow cooker and warm on LOW 2–3 hours.
Storage
Refrigerate leftovers up to 4 days or freeze up to 3 months. The flavor gets even better the next day.
