About the name:
In 1818, a group of settlers from Kentucky, Tennessee, the Carolinas, and Virginia were so impressed with a “haven of blooms” that they decided to settle there, and called it Bloomington. Bloomington became a warm, inviting environment that embraced people and ideas from around the globe. Today, Bloomington is a diverse city of learners, dreamers, and doers with a dynamic energy, and spectacular scenery.
